There are no rules. I would say to Tweet it with hashtag #ThemeWord so others who are doing it can see you join in. Sheila - I suggest you simply declare a word. Don't make it too important, and you won't make it too serious. What do you see as lacking that you would like to declare into existence with this year? How about "Lighten" or something?
