Lots of things happen in life. People take actions and often don’t think about what could be next. Sometimes a domino starts a chain of events and when you get done you think how did that happen?
this can be good or bad, but you gotta live with the outcome. Glad no one was seriously hurt (sounds like a miracle no one was)

Geoff, glad you and all others at the scene are ok. Thanks for putting out the meaning or not part of this. I often create definitions of what “things mean” especially when it seems out of control. Often, it’s long ago and far away that it dawns on me what really happened that day… You also remind me to keep my “index cards” handy, as Anne Lamott suggested in her book on writing, bird by bird – to jot down an observation at the moment it happens. It just may be a missing puzzle piece to bridge the story line or clarify a character’s motivation while writing someday. Best, Mary

Thanks for the reminder that actions may have unintended results that change lives forever. Whether to drive when drinking, tired or unfocused? Whether to own a firearm? Whether to retaliate against ignorant remarks or acts by another? How much freedom to give a youth, business associate or friend? In hindsight, most people makes good decisions, but the challenge is to live a full and interesting life ‘in the moment’ while minimizing risk from extreme incidents. Although people think ‘it will never happen to me’, it always happens to someone.

Donovan, yes, it does indeed. Joel, the play was good. Three of the roles were understudies the night I saw it. I’ll be reviewing it later this week.

That’s too bad you had to see that. I’m glad I’m at home about to watch Mad Men and have a big glass of wine. It’s funny you mentioned that play because I was looking for plays to take a friend of ours and saw that one. How was the play?

Thanks, Kate. I am also glad it wasn’t me. Strangely, while it was all happening, even though it was directly in front of me, I never for a moment considered that I would be hit or injured. Not sure why. It didn’t even occur in one of those, “Oh, my God!” moments later. The affect on me was much more ethereal than that.

As always, Geoff…you are eloquent in your description to the point that I can “see” the accident happening, profound in your idea that there was some kind of hidden meaning behind this horrendous accident and honest enough to say, you have NO idea what the meaning is.
